Rangers in Switzerland

So I forgot to live blog on the games in Switzerland.
Whoops.
But my goodness, do I wish I was there!
With the complete slaughter of SC Bern, the rumours and articles in the russian papers saying that if Mettalallurg Magnitogorsk beat the Rangers, each player would be paid $100,000; and the goal at 19:40 by Ryan Callahan to give the Rangers the 4-3 lead which would then lead to the victory, and the celebration afterward.

But, let's start with the Bern game, shall we?

It was a fairly close game, 2-0 through two, then at the beginning of the third, it was 2-1. Then the Rangers got a third and fourth goal, Bern just gave up after that. Their goalie just coughed up the puck, and hence the score was 8-1. I kept saying it was quite like the film "Mystery, Alaska"

And we all know that coming into the game, the Rangers weren't as heavily favoured. I mean, the best of the Russian freaking Super League, versus us, the team who hasn't made it past the 2nd playoff round the last two seasons. And especially with news clippings and rumours saying that the wealthy management would pay each player $100,000 if they won. First off, that's kind of disgusting how these oil mugs can toss money around like that. So we're playing and extra 50 cents at Lukoil so you can offer stuff like that?! Tisk, tisk.

During the game, I still rooted like hell, and I though the game was going to be won 4-2. I was close. When it was 3-0 my dad, being Mr.Negativo, said "You know they're going to lose this, right?" I shrugged him off, but that little voice in my head said "He might be right..."
But that little voice shut up quickly when Drury scored that goal. WHOO!
Then my God, I sat there, jaw on the floor when I saw that wicked shot by Fritsche.
But Mezin, man he was like ontop of everything! Half the time I was like, "Are you freaking serious!?"

Then we had the pushing and shoving and intensity, and anger.

Then Drury scored again, and we were tied.

Finally, it was twenty seconds to go.
Cally with the puck, and my God, he faked and buried it! I was screaming like hell! But man that was soo intense, it couldn't have ended any other way.

But we won the Victoria Cup!
After the game, my dad and I were chanting "We want the Cup!" :)

And we were hysterical laughing when we saw they sent out the two Russians out to get the illuminated trophy, Dimitri Kalinin and my boy, Nicky Zherdev.
I think Nicky really likes it here in New York. The fans (well at least me) love him, and he fits perfectly in the team.

And they can't banish Mattalourg out to Syberia, since that's kinda homeland.
Hahahaha :)

Countin' down the day's 'till Prague!
Let's Go Rangers!

(p.s. if anyone can find me the picture of the Rangers with the trophy, will you send the URL? Because I really want that picture :)
